Bought the domain for my new MSP today, Vanguard Security! I’m totally new to the MSP scene, and I want to document the journey here.

My goal for wanting to start this MSP comes from a desire to want to help small and medium sized businesses, organizations, and non-profits on the cyber security front. The cyber landscape is a true wild West, and small organizations often don’t have the resources to properly manage and keep up to date with current threats, best practices, and security. That’s why I started Vanguard Security. 

Cambridge defines the word vanguard as “a group of people who lead the development of new ideas, or a leading position in the development of something.” It is my passion to lead my clients on the cyber front in taking charge of maintaining, securing, and mitigating threats to their information systems.

I don’t have a team at the moment, so I’m moving into this as a one-man shop. I want to hone in my scope of focus on a select set of services to provide. Some of these services include:

• Endpoint monitoring
• Endpoint security and patch management
• Backup management
• Automated recovery
• Log aggregation
• Website hosting and management

I’m still looking into some tools that will make up my security stack and how everything will work. This will take a couple years to roll out, so I have adequate time to research, practice, and make sure that I’m providing a good value to my future clients.
